Knowledge Transfer on Solar Cooling in Ghana

The SelfChill team is launching a series of activities in Ghana to raise awareness about solar cooling, showcase the potential of cooling technologies in agriculture, and engage with diverse stakeholders. In November, the team will embark on an extensive project trip to Accra and Tamale.

The first stop will be the West African Clean Energy & Environment Conference and Exhibition (WACEE) on November 11–12. This well-established event is known as one of West Africa’s key meeting points for the solar energy community, bringing together representatives from government, NGOs, and the private sector.
On November 11, the SelfChill team will host a Side Session on Solar Cooling Technologies and warmly invites all interested participants to join. Participation is free of charge and can be registered via the WACEE website: https://wacee.net/.

In 2024, the first SelfChill Cold Room in Ghana was installed in Tamale. During the upcoming visit, important meetings with the operator Green-Ef Eco Business Village and technical training sessions for local partners are scheduled. In addition, a Solar Cooling Info Day will take place at the cold room site — visitors are warmly welcome! Further details about the event can be found here.

Another highlight of the trip will be the Innovators Workshop at HopIn Academy Tamale. Together with this well-known regional innovation hub, SelfChill is organizing a two-day workshop for entrepreneurs. More information is available here, and registration can be completed via this provided link: Solar Cooling Solutions for Agricultural Value Chains.

The SelfChill team and its local partners look forward to putting solar cooling for agriculture in the spotlight and engaging directly with as many stakeholders as possible.
