Green-Ef runs SelfChill Cold Room in Ghana

We are delighted to announce the launch of a new SelfChill cold room in Ghana, proudly operated by Green-Ef Eco-Business Village Ltd. , in its mission to transform Ghana’s agricultural value chains into socio-economic and environmental assets through innovation.

The cold room was manufactured locally in Africa and integrated into an up-cycled container. The 100% solar off-grid solution has a capacity of 3 tonnes and can cool up to 500kg of warm agricultural produce to below 10°C in less than 8 hours. In recent weeks, the system has demonstrated its ability to operate at ambient temperatures above 45°C using its innovative ice storage, making it highly resilient to solar and demand fluctuations.

The business and financial model for the cold room is being piloted as part of the BeCool Ghana project. Be Cool stands for Business Empowerment with Solar Cooling Solutions. The BeCool Ghana project aims to implement solar cooling technologies in Ghana and transfer knowledge. It is a joint project of Phaesun GmbH and Solar Cooling Engineering GmbH from Germany.
The project is co-financed by DEG Impulse from public funds of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.

We wish Green-Ef Eco-Business Village Ltd. all the best in their business development and are proud of their commitment to providing access to cooling in such a sustainable way!
