We are motivated by the knowledge that our products can make a real difference in people’s lives. By keeping agricultural produce fresh for smallholder farmers and cooperatives in rural areas, we can reduce food waste and increase food security. Our cooling solutions can be used to preserve a variety of agricultural products and food, including milk, vegetables, fruits, meat, fish, and other liquids and drinks. Implementing SelfChill cooling systems can create new business opportunities for smallholders or farmer cooperatives. By working with local assembly and distribution partners, we offer customized solutions that meet the specific needs of our clients while supporting the local economy.

THE CHALLENGE

Smallholder farmers produce up to 80% of agricultural products in many tropical and subtropical countries. Many of these products are heat-sensitive and have a short shelf life under ambient conditions. Due to the lack of cooling facilities in poorly electrified rural areas, there are considerable post-harvest losses of up to 50%.
